Why is the boat called "Minuit"?
Minuit means midnight in French and the first owner of the boat first had the hull manufactured in a shipyard of La Rochelle (France) on the basis of a plan designed by the architect Phélipon. He then had the hull "delivered" to his home town and harbour (Grandville) to continue the construction and the decoration of the interior. He did most of the work. Since he was and still is a teacher, he did spend all evenings on "Minuit", not finishing before 12 pm, that's why he called her "Minuit".
